Vehicle Placard for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Individuals During Traffic Stops

In a world now plagued by the media constantly portraying police officers in a negative light, it is easy to get caught up in the mainstream and lose hope in humanity and the idea of uncorrupt just officers.

From its conception, I have followed a friend who made an idea a remarkable reality. Her idea stemmed from the Cincinnati Police Department. The concept is quite simple, in that a specially marked placard was created for individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing. It simply indicates the driver’s hearing status to officers during traffic stops, as well as provides tips for the driver on what to do when interacting with an officer.

I am so proud of my friend for choosing to step up and do something about a cause she is passionate about, and the product benefits the community. Although the Deaf and hard of hearing community is relatively small, they do exist. Hopefully, this card can be shared nationwide, increase awareness and education, and more importantly, be of benefit to those who need it.
